Background of ICOHELIC 2022
Many areas in health and medical research have been consistently successful in providing the best quality health care and best clinical outcomes. Astonishing enhancement of heart disease, stroke, cancers, vaccines, infections, immunological disease, and other health diseases is evidence of the power of science to save and improve lives. Medical researchers who work in clinical research have studied health and illness in people, which also proves and protects public health. Furthermore, the idea of advanced clinical research originated from basic research or fundamental research, the study of life processes that are universal in their application to scientific knowledge. Clinical Research addresses important questions of normal function and disease using human subjects. The researchers need to expand their capabilities by adding up the medical updates through journals, scientific discussions, and conferences.
To strengthen the clinical research, a scientific conference need to add to the annual agenda. Therefore, the Medical Faculty of Universitas Sebelas Maret Indonesia which is among the top medical faculty in Indonesia would like to present the Third International Conference on Health, Technology, and Life Science (ICO-HELICS).
Keynote Speakers
Jia-Jin Jason Chen, PhD, is currently a Distinguished Professor of Department of Biomedical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. Dr. Chen is pioneer for promoting neural engineering in Taiwan. His previous work on electrical stimulation cycling project has been focused on control strategy as well as brain mapping using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for investigating neural plasticity of stroke subjects. He recent works also involved in repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). Dr. Chen has been very actively working on the implantable biomicrosystem for in-vivo dopamine sensing as well as microstimulation for bladder control in animal studies. His present research activities involve biomedical signal processing, neural engineering, neuromodulation, neural/neuronal interfaces, and implantable biomicrosystem.
Prof. Irawan Satriotomo is an Indonesian doctor in neuroscience who was an assistant professor at the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology, Kagawa University, Japan , a researcher at the Department of Comparative Biosciences , Wiconsin-Madison University and now works as a Senior Researcher (Research Professor) at the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Disease (CTRND), University of Florida , United States of America . He focuses on neuroscience research with the theme: Neurodegeneration and Neuroplasticity in Central Nervous System, Neuronal-glial interaction and their molecular mechanisms, and The role of stem cells in neurodegenerative disease
Yugeesh Lankadeva PhD is a National Heart Foundation Future Leader Research Fellow/Laboratory Head of Translational Cardiovascular and Renal Research Group, at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. His research focuses on the mechanisms underlying cardiovascular failure, acute kidney injury and immunosuppression in sepsis and also the development of acute kidney injury following cardiac surgery on cardiopulmonary bypass.
Prof. Taifo Mahmud is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Oregon State University. Taifo Mahmud’s research interests focus on natural product-based drug discovery and development. His group employs a multidisciplinary approach that utilizes cutting-edge technologies to produce novel pharmaceuticals. Some recent accomplishments of his group include discovering new families of enzymes and developing antimalarials, anti-cancers, and sunscreens through genetic engineering or synthetic biology.
Prof. Ari Natalia Probandari, dr., M.P.H., Ph.D. is a public health professor at Universitas Sebelas Maret. Prof. Ari completed his medical studies at Gadjah Mada University and his master’s and doctoral degrees at Umea University, Sweden. She is the Chair of the Doctoral Program in Public Health at Sebelas Maret University. She is an active editor and reviewer for several reputable international journals, such as BMC Health Services Research, PLoS One, and Global Health Action. Her research focus is implementing research on the control of communicable and non-communicable diseases, including tuberculosis, abandoned tropical diseases, hypertension, diabetes, and other health system and policy issues.
